Aurora Hospital

Aurora Hospital is a hospital currently under construction in Grand Forks, North Dakota. The hospital will have 70 beds and plans call for initial employment of under 150 with future employment of around 500. The hospital will be built on the grounds of the Aurora Medical Park. This medical campus already includes existing medical facilities such as The Stadter Center 70-bed psychiatric hospital and a building which houses many independently-owned medical clinics.

Aurora Hospital will be a for-profit business, unlike the only existing general hospital in Grand Forks, the non-profit Altru Health System. For quite some time, Altru has been the only major health care provider in Grand Forks and Aurora Hospital is seen as a new competitor for Altru.

The Aurora Hospital was absorbed by Altru Hospital in 2012.

Famous quotes containing the words aurora and/or hospital:

    What’s this, Aurora Leigh,
You write so of the poets and not laugh?
Those virtuous liars, dreamers after dark,
Exaggerators of the sun and moon,
And soothsayers in a tea-cup? I write so
Of the only truth-tellers, now left to God,—
The only speakers of essential truth,
    Opposed to relative, comparative,
    And temporal truths;...
The only teachers who instruct mankind,
    From just a shadow on a charnel-wall.
    Elizabeth Barrett Browning (1806–1861)

Radio put technology into storytelling and made it sick. TV killed it. Then you were locked into somebody else’s sighting of that story. You no longer had the benefit of making that picture for yourself, using your imagination. Storytelling brings back that humanness that we have lost with TV. You talk to children and they don’t hear you. They are television addicts. Mamas bring them home from the hospital and drag them up in front of the set and the great stare-out begins.
    Jackie Torrence (b. 1944)
