• Singapore is hosting a multi-national maritime interdiction exercise as part of the Proliferation Security Initiative to address the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction. Launched at Changi Naval Base and conducted in the South China Sea, the exercise involves some 2,000 personnel from 13 countries. (CNA)
• The newly established Singapore Police MRT Unit begins patrols on the Mass Rapid Transit system. (CNA)
• Minister for Health Khaw Boon Wan says a new general hospital in Yishun will be built before 2010 to relieve the increasingly congested Tan Tock Seng Hospital. (CNA)
