Association of Philippine Orthodontists

Association Of Philippine Orthodontists

The Association of Philippine Orthodontists (APO) is a specialty organization founded in 1980 to promote and encourage a high standard of excellence in orthodontic treatment and education in the Philippines. It is recognized internationally as an affiliate society of the World Federation of Orthodontists (WFO) and a charter member of the Asian Pacific Orthodontic Society (APOS). The idea of a formal umbrella organization was first discussed by the Orthodontic Teachers Organization (ORTO), an organization that included faculty members from the different dentistry colleges that strove to upgrade the national undergraduate curriculum and develop the country's orthodontic faculties.

APO members were involved in the faculty of the Graduate Program of the University of the Philippines in Orthodontics that opened in 1989. The association subsequently contributed to the Filipino orthodontic tertiary system by placing graduate faculty members at the University of Baguio and the Manila Central University program.

Following the APO's 7th Biennial National Orthodontic Congress, held in Makati City on August 2 and 3, 2010, Roberto B. Tan began in the role of APO President #2010–2011#.

Famous quotes containing the word association:

The spiritual kinship between Lincoln and Whitman was founded upon their Americanism, their essential Westernism. Whitman had grown up without much formal education; Lincoln had scarcely any education. One had become the notable poet of the day; one the orator of the Gettsyburg Address. It was inevitable that Whitman as a poet should turn with a feeling of kinship to Lincoln, and even without any association or contact feel that Lincoln was his.
    Edgar Lee Masters (1869–1950)
