Aslam in 2012 ventured into Urdu cinema. AWAAZ was his first release which was based on the domestic violence women face in Pakistan. Aslam's performance as the angry husband earned him accolades and went on to be one of the most critically acclaimed films of the decade fetching him film awards in Pakistan. His next film MY FIRST MOHABBAT was a youth film highlighting the issues of 2 lovers who are not able to get married. This film worked big time and turned Aslam into an overnight star. Napak was his subsequent release, which portrayed him as a horrible brother who rapes and murders his sister, the film and his performance was critically acclaimed and created awareness of this issue in the country. Prerana released in September 2012 and turned to be one of the biggest hits of the year. These accomplishments have thus established him as a leading actor in Urdu Cinema.
