Famous quotes containing the words arthur and/or barton:

Muhammad is the Messenger of God,
and those who are with him are hard
    against the unbelievers, merciful
one to another. Thou seest them
    bowing, prostrating, seeking bounty
from God and good pleasure. Their
mark is on their faces, the trace of
    prostration....
    God has promised
those of them who believe and do deeds
    of righteousness forgiveness and
    a mighty wage.
    Qur’An. Victory 48:35, ed. Arthur J. Arberry (1955)

It is too late—the world is too dark for any thought ahead. Others are writing my biography, and let it rest as they elect to make it. I have lived my life, well and ill, always less well than I wanted it to be but it is, as it is, and as it has been; so small a thing, to have had so much about it!
    —Clara Barton (1821–1912)
