Heavy Industry
Robots have become common in many industries. They are often given jobs that are considered dangerous to humans. Robots have proven effective in jobs that are very repetitive which may lead to mistakes or accidents due to a lapse in concentration and other jobs which humans may find degrading. Japan is the leader in using and producing robots in the world. In 1999, 1,700,000 robots were in use worldwide. For more information, see survey about artificial intelligence in business.

Famous quotes containing the words heavy and/or industry:
“The Danaan children laugh, in cradles of wrought gold,
And clap their hands together, and half close their eyes,
For they will ride the North when the ger-eagle flies,
With heavy whitening wings, and a heart fallen cold....”
—William Butler Yeats (18651939)
“I have never yet spoken from a public platform about women in industry that someone has not said, But things are far better than they used to be. I confess to impatience with persons who are satisfied with a dangerously slow tempo of progress for half of society in an age which requires a much faster tempo than in the days that used to be. Let us use what might be instead of what has been as our yardstick!”
—Mary Barnett Gilson (1877?)
