Anthony Sallee

Anthony Sallee (born January 3, 1969) was the bassist of Christian rock band White Heart from 1990 to 1993.

Anthony Sallee was born and raised in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He started playing bass guitar in church as an early teen. He took 8 years of classical piano instruction, learned to play the alto saxophone in junior high school band, and choir in high school, but bass guitar was his passion. He played in several local bands in junior high and high school, and started doing a few local recording sessions. In 1988, Anthony was asked to play with Star Song Records recording artist, Craig Smith. This was his first real touring experience playing several college theaters throughout the Southeast, US. In 1989, Anthony met local guitarist, Barney Hector, and David Spicer. With the addition of local drummer Steve Lane, they formed a jazz/fusion group and recorded an EP worth of songs. It was this recording that Anthony used to send in for an audition for the Christian Rock Band White Heart. In 1990, Sallee auditioned for White Heart and was hired to replace bassist Tommy Sims, who had recently left his position. Sallee recorded three projects with White Heart before resigning. Those projects include: Powerhouse, Tales of Wonder and Highlands. Sallee was performed and wrote on all three projects. All three projects received numerous Dove and Grammy Award nominations and had many top charting songs. Subsequently, he was drafted for studio work and touring bands with Christian artists like Michael W. Smith, Wes King, Michael English, Phil Keaggy, and Amy Grant. Recently Sallee played bass on for John Elefante on the Mastedon release 3

Famous quotes containing the word anthony:

There is great fear expressed on all sides lest this war shall be made a war for the negro. I am willing that it shall be. It is a war to found an empire on the negro in slavery, and shame on us if we do not make it a war to establish the negro in freedom—against whom the whole nation, North and South, East and West, in one mighty conspiracy, has combined from the beginning.
