Return To The U.S.
In 1938, the Lindberghs moved back to the United States. Due to his outspoken beliefs about a future war that would envelop their homeland, the antiwar America First Committee quickly adopted Charles Lindbergh as their leader in 1940. After the attack on Pearl Harbor and Germany's declaration of war, the committee disbanded, and Charles pressed to become involved in the military, eventually finding a way to enter combat, albeit as a civilian.
Charles and Anne Lindbergh had five more children: sons Jon, Land and Scott, and daughters Anne and Reeve.

Famous quotes containing the words return to the, return to and/or return:
“Each work of art excludes the world, concentrates attention on itself. For the time it is the only thing worth doingto do just that; be it a sonnet, a statue, a landscape, an outline head of Caesar, or an oration. Presently we return to the sight of another that globes itself into a whole as did the first, for example, a beautiful garden; and nothing seems worth doing in life but laying out a garden.”
—Ralph Waldo Emerson (18031882)
“Love is life. All, everything that I understand, I understand only because I love. Everything is, everything exists, only because I love. Everything is united by it alone. Love is God, and to die means that I, a particle of love, shall return to the general and eternal source.”
—Leo Tolstoy (18281910)
“I borrowed today out of the Advocates Library, David Humes Treatise of Human Nature, but found it so abstruse, so contrary to sound sense and reason, and so drearying its effects on the mind, if it had any, that I resolved to return it without reading it.
”
—James Boswell (17401795)
