Ann Arbor Transportation Authority

The Ann Arbor Transportation Authority (AATA), which brands itself as "The Ride," is the public transit system serving the Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti, Michigan, area.

The authority operates fixed-route bus lines within its service area, as well as a paratransit system. It also operates transit centers in downtown Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti, as well as a number of park and ride lots in Ann Arbor. Other services provided by the authority include a campus shuttle at Eastern Michigan University and UM-sponsored commuter buses from Chelsea and Canton. The AATA is also the designated authority for the planned Ann Arbor-Howell commuter rail line.

The AATA was the first transit authority in the United States to operate low-floor buses when, in early 1993, they took delivery of ten New Flyer D40LF buses. In terms of operation, only two Canadian authorities and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey operated such buses prior to the AATA.

Famous quotes containing the words ann and/or authority:

Opposition may become sweet to a man when he has christened it persecution.
George Eliot [Mary Ann (or Marian)

The idea of feminine authority is so deeply embedded in the human subconscious that even after all these centuries of father-right the young child instinctively regards the mother as the supreme authority. He looks upon the father as equal with himself, equally subject to the woman’s rule. Children have to be taught to love, honor, and respect the father.
    Elizabeth Gould Davis (b. 1910)
