American Quarter Horse Hall Of Fame

The American Quarter Horse Association has created a Hall of Fame in Amarillo, Texas to honor both people and horses who contributed to the growth of the American Quarter Horse. Any one may nominate either people or horses to be considered. Nominations from the membership are due by October 1. They are then screened and sent to the Hall of Fame committee which meets in the following March. Nominations stay active for three years, then must sit out for three years before being considered again. People being considered may be alive or deceased, but horses must be deceased.

Famous quotes containing the words american, quarter, horse, hall and/or fame:

Every American poet feels that the whole responsibility for contemporary poetry has fallen upon his shoulders, that he is a literary aristocracy of one.
    —W.H. (Wystan Hugh)

I also heard the whooping of the ice in the pond, my great bed-fellow in that part of Concord, as if it were restless in its bed and would fain turn over, were troubled with flatulency and bad dreams; or I was waked by the cracking of the ground by the frost, as if some one had driven a team against my door, and in the morning would find a crack in the earth a quarter of a mile long and a third of an inch wide.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

Love and marriage, love and marriage
Go together like a horse and carriage
    Dad was told by mother
You can’t have one without the other.
    Sammy Cahn (1913–1993)

I was afraid the waking arm would break
From the loose earth and rub against his eyes
A fist of trees, and the whole country tremble
    In the exultant labor of his rise;
    —Donald Hall (b. 1928)

Alas I find the Serpent old
That, twining in his speckled breast,
About the flow’rs disguis’d does fold,
With wreaths of Fame and Interest.
    Andrew Marvell (1621–1678)
