American Dream (Casting Crowns Song)
"American Dream" is a single by Casting Crowns off their debut eponymous album. The band made their first music video to this song. It is the only video from their debut album and only their first of four overall.
American Dream's lyrics are based around the Biblical parable of building a house upon the sand.
The song tells the story of a man named Jack who disregards his family in his attempts to make their life better for them. He works late hours, went to work on the weekends, and his family never saw him. The song talks about how his world began to crumble, because he failed to realize that all his family wanted was to have him around.
