Ambient Ionization - Desorption Atmospheric Pressure Photoionization

Desorption Atmospheric Pressure Photoionization

Desorption atmospheric pressure photoionization (DAPPI) enables direct analysis of samples deposited on surfaces by means of a jet of hot solvent vapour and ultraviolet light. The hot jet thermally desorbs the sample from a surface and the vaporized sample is ionized by a vacuum ultraviolet light and consequently sampled into a mass spectrometer.

Famous quotes containing the words atmospheric and/or pressure:

Nor has science sufficient humanity, so long as the naturalist overlooks the wonderful congruity which subsists between man and the world; of which he is lord, not because he is the most subtile inhabitant, but because he is its head and heart, and finds something of himself in every great and small thing, in every mountain stratum, in every new law of color, fact of astronomy, or atmospheric influence which observation or analysis lay open.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)

We believe that civilization has been created under the pressure of the exigencies of life at the cost of satisfaction of the instincts.
    Sigmund Freud (1856–1939)
