Alive (Natalie Bassingthwaighte Song)

"Alive" is the first single by Natalie Bassingthwaighte, taken from her debut album 1000 Stars. The song's musical-genre is pop and its lyrics describe being free, taking chances and making love. The song was released as the album's first single in late-2008 (see 2008 in music) and entered the top twenty on the Australian ARIA Singles Chart.

The song was written in Los Angeles in the last week of Bassingthwaighte writing for her album which was also the last writing session with Birgisson and Frampton. Bassingthwaighte states that it was really hard to write the song because they wanted to write something that was "just fun" because she felt a song like that was missing from her album.

The king said, -Divide the living boy in two; then give half to the one, and half to the other. But the woman whose son was alive said to the king -because compassion for her son burned within her - -Please, my lord, give her the living boy; certainly do not kill him! The other said, -It shall be neither mine nor yours; divide it. Then the king responded: -Give the first woman the living boy; do not kill him. She is his mother.
