Alex Porteau - World Wrestling Federation

World Wrestling Federation

Pourteau had worked for the World Wrestling Federation on odd occasions from 1994, but began to wrestle full time for the company in 1996. Pourteau received a push from the WWF, under the name Alex "The Pug" Pourteau, with the gimmick of an amateur wrestler (using the theme song The Steiner Brothers used in the WWF), however his character did not last. After a year with the company, Pourteau left the WWF in 1997.

Famous quotes containing the words world, wrestling and/or federation:

The descendants of Holy Roman Empire monarchies became feeble-minded in the twentieth century, and after World War I had been done in by the democracies; some were kept on to entertain the tourists, like the one they have in England.
    Ishmael Reed (b. 1938)

There are people who think that wrestling is an ignoble sport. Wrestling is not sport, it is a spectacle, and it is no more ignoble to attend a wrestled performance of suffering than a performance of the sorrows of Arnolphe or Andromaque.
    Roland Barthes (1915–1980)

Women realize that we are living in an ungoverned world. At heart we are all pacifists. We should love to talk it over with the war-makers, but they would not understand. Words are so inadequate, and we realize that the hatred must kill itself; so we give our men gladly, unselfishly, proudly, patriotically, since the world chooses to settle its disputes in the old barbarous way.
—General Federation Of Women’s Clubs (GFWC)
