The third segment of Highway 1A begins at the east limits of the City of Calgary city limits, this time paralleling Highway 1 to the south. It travels 5.1 km (3.2 mi) through the Town of Chestermere, ending at Range Road 281A beyond Highway 1.
In Calgary, the highway is preceded by 17 Avenue SE (International Avenue), until it crosses Highway 2 (Deerfoot Trail, at exit 254), where it then becomes Blackfoot Trail. The highway is succeeded by Township Road 243, which connects to Range Road 281 that provides access to Rocky View County.
