Alba Berlin - History

History

Alba Berlin traces its history back to BG Charlottenburg, which was founded in 1989. In 1991, when the waste management company, Alba AG, agreed to a significant basketball sponsorship, BG Charlottenburg changed its name to Alba Berlin.

Only six years later, Alba Berlin won its first out of seven consecutive German Championships (1997 to 2003). The club has also won six German Cups, in the years 1997, 1999, 2002, 2003, 2006, and 2009. Alba won its eighth German Championship in 2008.

The club also won the third-tier level European basketball competition, the Korać Cup, in 1995.

Famous quotes containing the word history:

Throughout the history of commercial life nobody has ever quite liked the commission man. His function is too vague, his presence always seems one too many, his profit looks too easy, and even when you admit that he has a necessary function, you feel that this function is, as it were, a personification of something that in an ethical society would not need to exist. If people could deal with one another honestly, they would not need agents.
    Raymond Chandler (1888–1959)

You treat world history as a mathematician does mathematics, in which nothing but laws and formulas exist, no reality, no good and evil, no time, no yesterday, no tomorrow, nothing but an eternal, shallow, mathematical present.
    Hermann Hesse (1877–1962)

Every library should try to be complete on something, if it were only the history of pinheads.
    Oliver Wendell Holmes, Sr. (1809–1894)
