He has worked on many television shows, from The Smurfs and DC animated series "Superfriends and The Super Power Team"and Batman: The Animated Series, to the Batman Beyond animated series and The Batman. Burnett also wrote a segment in Batman: Gotham Knights (a series of 6 animated short films bridging the gap between the movies Batman Begins and The Dark Knight).

Since 2009, Burnett has been co-producing and supervising scripts for all the DTV productions from Warner Bros. Animation. He also wrote "Green Lantern: First Flight" and co-wrote "Green Lantern: Emerald Knights" and "Scooby Doo: Abracadabra Doo."
