Difference of Opinion Over Ayat in Ayatul Kursi
There is a slight difference of opinion in the number of Ayat included in Ayatul Kursi. Sunni scholars believe that under normal circumstances, it is only Ayah 255; Ayat 256 and 257 are to be recited only if the Hadith says so. Shia scholars believe that under normal circumstances, Ayat 256 and 257 are optional.

Famous quotes containing the words difference of opinion, difference and/or opinion:
“I allude to these facts to show that, so far from the Supper being a tradition in which men are fully agreed, there has always been the widest room for difference of opinion upon this particular. Having recently given particular attention to this subject, I was led to the conclusion that Jesus did not intend to establish an institution for perpetual observance when he ate the Passover with his disciples; and further, to the opinion that it is not expedient to celebrate it as we do.”
—Ralph Waldo Emerson (18031882)
“I never see any difference in boys. I only know two sorts of boys. Mealy boys, and beef-faced boys.”
—Charles Dickens (18121870)
“You cant, in sound morals, condemn a man for taking care of his own integrity. It is his clear duty. And least of all can you condemn an artist pursuing, however humbly and imperfectly, a creative aim. In that interior world where his thought and his emotions go seeking for the experience of imagined adventures, there are no policemen, no law, no pressure of circumstance or dread of opinion to keep him within bounds. Who then is going to say Nay to his temptations if not his conscience?”
—Joseph Conrad (18571924)
