Advanced Civilization

Advanced Civilization is the expansion game for the board game Civilization, published in 1991 by Avalon Hill. Ownership of the original game is necessary to play. Both games are no longer published, following the dissolution of the original Avalon Hill game company and sale of all rights to titles to Hasbro in 1998.

Famous quotes containing the words advanced civilization, advanced and/or civilization:

For such an advanced civilization as ours to be without images that are adequate to it is as serious a defect as being without memory.
    Werner Herzog (b. 1942)

How oft when men are at the point of death
Have they been merry! which their keepers call
A lightning before death: O, how may I
Call this a lightning? O my love! my wife!
Death, that hath sucked the honey of thy breath,
Hath had no power yet upon thy beauty:
Thou art not conquered; beauty’s ensign yet
Is crimson in thy lips and in thy cheeks,
And death’s pale flag is not advanced there.
    William Shakespeare (1564–1616)

The face of nature and civilization in this our country is to a certain point a very sufficient literary field. But it will yield its secrets only to a really grasping imagination.... To write well and worthily of American things one need even more than elsewhere to be a master.
    Henry James (1843–1916)
