2002 Cleveland Browns Season

The 2002 Cleveland Browns season was the team's 50th season with the National Football League.

The Browns made the playoffs for the first time since their inaugural season as an expansion franchise. It was only the Browns' fourth year since the expansion, and their first winning season. It would also prove to be the only time that the team made the NFL playoffs in the 2000s (decade). It marks the last time that the Browns have qualified for the postseason.

Famous quotes containing the words cleveland and/or season:

The lesson should be constantly enforced that though the people support the Government, Government should not support the people.
    —Grover Cleveland (1837–1908)

The instincts of merry England lingered on here with exceptional vitality, and the symbolic customs which tradition has attached to each season of the year were yet a reality on Egdon. Indeed, the impulses of all such outlandish hamlets are pagan still: in these spots homage to nature, self-adoration, frantic gaieties, fragments of Teutonic rites to divinities whose names are forgotten, seem in some way or other to have survived mediaeval doctrine.
    Thomas Hardy (1840–1928)
