Prost was determined to go out on a high note in his last Grand Prix for McLaren before joining Ferrari. Two drivers announced their retirements on Friday, Piercarlo Ghinzani driving an Osella and René Arnoux in the Ligier both bowed out.

Famous quotes containing the word news:
“These men, in teaching us how to die, have at the same time taught us how to live. How many a man who was lately contemplating suicide has now something to live for!”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
