1971 Masters Tournament

The 1971 Masters Tournament was contested from April 8 to April 11 at Augusta National Golf Club. It was the 35th Masters Tournament. 77 players entered the tournament and 48 of them made the cut at six-over-par (150).

Charles Coody birdied the 15th and 16th holes to defeat Johnny Miller and Jack Nicklaus by two strokes. Miller was ahead by two strokes through 14 holes on Sunday but he could not hold on to win.

This was the first time that future 3-time U.S. Open champion Hale Irwin would play in the Masters. He finished in a tie for 13th place.

Dave Stockton won the Par 3 contest with a score of 23.
