1945 Major League Baseball All-Star Game - Unofficial Rosters

Unofficial Rosters

Although there was no formal balloting conducted by Major League Baseball, the Associated Press named their own All-Stars after taking a poll of 13 of the 16 major league managers. The only managers who did not participate were Joe McCarthy of the New York Yankees, Luke Sewell of the St. Louis Browns, and Billy Southworth of the St. Louis Cardinals; the latter two were to have managed the AL and NL, respectively, for the game.

Fred Lieb of The Sporting News wrote an article in the July 12, 1945 issue selecting All-Star teams, even naming starting position players and three possible starting pitchers. Some of Lieb's selections are different than the AP selections.

Players in italics have since been inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame.
