15 Minutes of Shame - Reception

Reception

Common Sense wrote that the song is "a blend of mainstream pop with a country twang, and works surprisingly well in both musical styles and that the lyrics — full of sass and spunk — benefit from Cook's vocals and keep the single lighter and more fun despite the injections of bitterness and mean-spiritedness." "15 Minutes of Shame" got 3 stars from Common Sense.

The 9513's Jim Malec gave the song a thumbs down, saying "She says she’s going to 'spill the beans' and 'shout it out', but never actually does either of the two, a fact which leaves the whole thing seeming a little bit awkward." Malec added, "Cook doesn’t have the charm of Kellie Pickler or the vocal chops of Carrie Underwood, and, based on this single, it appears she has no imagination as a recording artist. In every way, '15 Minutes of Shame' is a format-driven carbon copy, a direct-from-formula pop-country jingle."

Famous quotes containing the word reception:

I gave a speech in Omaha. After the speech I went to a reception elsewhere in town. A sweet old lady came up to me, put her gloved hand in mine, and said, “I hear you spoke here tonight.” “Oh, it was nothing,” I replied modestly. “Yes,” the little old lady nodded, “that’s what I heard.”
    Gerald R. Ford (b. 1913)

To aim to convert a man by miracles is a profanation of the soul. A true conversion, a true Christ, is now, as always, to be made by the reception of beautiful sentiments.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)

Aesthetic emotion puts man in a state favorable to the reception of erotic emotion.... Art is the accomplice of love. Take love away and there is no longer art.
    Rémy De Gourmont (1858–1915)
