- Also, in book VII of The Dark Tower series, Susannah Dean has a dream in which a loud voice yells "THIS IS NINETEEN! ALL YOUR FRIENDS ARE DEAD", similar to what Mike Enslin hears on the telephone in the hotel.
- In the film adaptation of "1408", Mike Enslin's novel was titled "The Long Road Home", which is the name of the Dark Tower comic series.
- The Dolphin Hotel of the story opened in 1910, the same year as the Overlook Hotel depicted in The Shining.
- For a brief moment, Mike Enslin envisions "blind, white bugs oozing out of the pale and formerly protected wallpaper like living pus." This actually does occur in the book The Talisman, written by Stephen King and Peter Straub.
