Zila parishad, district panchayat, or zila panchayat is a local government body at the district level in India and in Bangladesh. Zila Parishad is an elected body. Chairpersons or Block Pramukh of Block Samitis are also represented in Zila Parishad. The members of the State Legislature and the members of the Parliament are members of the Zila Parishad. The Hindi and Bengali word parishad means council and zila parishad translates to district council.
