Present
Presently under the directorship of James Barber, the theatre presents a mixed year-round production schedule that includes an annual pantomime. Its scenery workshop builds for Glyndebourne, the Royal Shakespeare Company and Chichester Festival Theatre. A youth department offers regular productions in the Mill Studio and an annual summer musical on the main stage. The wider theatre space is used for arts and functional purposes including art exhibitions and the annual film season feature, and includes a restaurant and bar.
In January 2012, theatre staff discriminated against and ejected long term patrons and their disabled son, after a customer complaint from another theatre goer. As a result, management are presently scheduled to review access procedures, information provided to audience members and provide additional staff training.

Famous quotes containing the word present:
“I dont suppose theres a man going, as possesses the fondness for youth that I do. Theres youth to the amount of eight hundred pound a-year, at Dotheboys Hall at this present time. Id take sixteen hundred pound worth, if I could get em, and be as fond of every individual twenty pound among em as nothing should equal it!”
—Charles Dickens (18121870)
“The present contains nothing more than the past, and what is found in the effect was already in the cause.”
—Henri Bergson (18591941)
“Stevenson had noble ideasas did the young Franklin for that matter. But Stevenson felt that the way to implement them was to present himself as a thoughtful idealist and wait for the world to flock to him. He considered it below him, or wrong, to scramble out among the people and ask them what they wanted. Roosevelt grappled voters to him. Stevenson shied off from them. Some thought him too pure to desire power, though he showed ambition when it mattered.”
—Garry Wills, U.S. historian. Certain Trumpets: The Call of Leaders, ch. 9, Simon & Schuster (1994)
