You Need A Mess Of Help To Stand Alone (album)

You Need a Mess of Help to Stand Alone (1993) is an album by the British band Saint Etienne. It was the first of several compilations released by the band, assembling various non-LP tracks such as the single "Who Do You Think You Are" with b-sides and other tracks. The title is derived from the song of the same name by the Beach Boys.

Before its release as a proper album, the disc was originally packaged in a 2 CD limited edition reissue of So Tough (HVNLP6CDX)

Famous quotes containing the words mess and/or stand:

Look Johnny, Spig just joined the Navy. I’m married to it. I run the mess hall. I swab the deck. I chip the rust. You’re afraid that they’ll kick Spig out of the Navy. I’m afraid that they won’t.
Frank Fenton, William Wister Haines, co-scenarist, and John Ford. Minne Wead (Maureen O’Hara)

I stand here tonight to say that we have never known defeat; we have never been vanquished. We have not always reached the goal toward which we have striven, but in the hour of our greatest disappointment we could always point to our battlefield and say: “There we fought our good fight, there we defended the principles for which our ancestors and yours laid down their lives; there is our battlefield for justice, equality and freedom. Where is yours?”
    Anna Howard Shaw (1847–1919)
