Famous quotes containing the words you know, guys and/or prison:

Maybe now you, you don’t want to believe it. Maybe you’d like to tell yourself it didn’t happen. But Steve, you’re not the kind of person that can turn your back on something you know is true.
—Theodore Simonson. Irvin S. Yeaworth, Jr.. Jane Martin (Aneta Corseaut)

Wherever there’s a fight so hungry people can eat, I’ll be there. Wherever there’s a cop beating up a guy, I’ll be there. I’ll be in the way guys yell when they’re mad. I’ll be in the way kids laugh when they’re hungry and they know supper’s ready. And when the people eat the stuff they raise, and living in the houses they build, I’ll be there, too.
    Nunnally Johnson (1897–1977)

Social questions are too sectional, too topical, too temporal to move a man to the mighty effort which is needed to produce great poetry. Prison reform may nerve Charles Reade to produce an effective and businesslike prose melodrama; but it could never produce Hamlet, Faust, or Peer Gynt.
    George Bernard Shaw (1856–1950)
