Future Development
Planning permission has been given for a new line of the Park and Ride scheme, extending from Poppleton Bar with a 1,250 space capacity. The plan has attracted opposition from local residents, due to its use of a small section of farmland designated as a 'village green' in Poppleton. The council has insisted that this will be offset with a community facility. Construction is set to begin in early 2013 in two phases, offering a 600 space capacity initially.
York council also has plans to extend the Askham Bar site to increase overall capacity as part of its £22 million 'Access York' scheme.
