WWA World Heavyweight Championship (Los Angeles)

WWA World Heavyweight Championship (Los Angeles)

The WWA World Heavyweight Championship was a professional wrestling world heavyweight championship in the Los Angeles-based World Wrestling Association (WWA). The title was established as an offshoot of the NWA World Heavyweight Championship when Edouard Carpentier became recognized as world champion in Los Angeles, when the promotion was then known as the North American Wrestling Alliance. The championship was renamed with the promotion in May 1962, and was abandoned in 1968 after the WWA joined the NWA and was renamed NWA Hollywood Wrestling.

There are omonime world titles contested in World Wrestling Association (Indianapolis), World Wrestling Association and in World Wrestling Association (Korea), which are all omonime promotions of the original WWA and which all consider themselves to be the true WWA or its true heir.

Famous quotes containing the word world:

Ezra Pound still lives in a village and his world is a kind of village and people keep explaining things when they live in a village.... I have come not to mind if certain people live in villages and some of my friends still appear to live in villages and a village can be cozy as well as intuitive but must one really keep perpetually explaining and elucidating?
    Gertrude Stein (1874–1946)
