Students
A higher than average proportion of pupils are eligible for free school meals. The school accepts a number of pupils who are challenging or difficult to place in schools elsewhere in the district. Relatively few pupils are from minority ethnic groups but there has been a recent increase in the number of pupils from refugee families. The number of pupils with English as an additional language is well below average. The number of pupils with learning difficulties and/or disabilities is higher than average, including the proportion of pupils who have statements of special educational need. Wortley is one of two schools in Leeds to provide a resource for pupils with complex speech and language difficulties.
