Work Engagement - Trait Versus State Work Engagement

Trait Versus State Work Engagement

Generally, work engagement is conceptualized as a relatively stable phenomenon. This can be explained by the presence of specific job and organizational characteristics. Famous quotes containing the words trait, state, work and/or engagement:

But if it is destined never again to grow,
It can blame this limitless trait in the hearts of men.
    Robert Frost (1874–1963)

To place liberty in an indifferency, antecedent to the thought and judgment of the understanding, seems to me to place liberty in a state of darkness, wherein we can neither see nor say any thing of it.
    John Locke (1632–1704)

A work can become modern only if it is first postmodern. Postmodernism thus understood is not modernism at its end but in the nascent state, and this state is constant.
    Jean François Lyotard (b. 1924)

We must continually remind students in the classroom that expression of different opinions and dissenting ideas affirms the intellectual process. We should forcefully explain that our role is not to teach them to think as we do but rather to teach them, by example, the importance of taking a stance that is rooted in rigorous engagement with the full range of ideas about a topic.
    bell hooks (b. 1955)
