Woody Rock - Early Life

Early Life

Raised in a Christian family, as a child Woody Rock (né James Green) was reportedly only allowed to listen to gospel music. He met future Dru Hill bandmate Mark "Sisqó" Andrews in middle school, and in 1992, he, Tamir "Nokio" Ruffin, Sisqo & two original members Bravette Fleet & Chris Thomas founded the group and began performing around the Baltimore area.. Originally a gospel group 14K Harmony. They changed their name to Legacy & switched to R&B which prompted Woody's mother to pull him out of the group. She ultimately allowed him to return to the group as a promise that he will return to his gospel roots. Fleet & Thomas dropped out the group by 1994 after Woody's return & fellow Baltimore native Larry "Jazz" Anthony & studied as an opera student at Frederick Douglass High School joined the group.

Famous quotes containing the words early and/or life:

It is easy to see that, even in the freedom of early youth, an American girl never quite loses control of herself; she enjoys all permitted pleasures without losing her head about any of them, and her reason never lets the reins go, though it may often seem to let them flap.
    Alexis de Tocqueville (1805–1859)

San Francisco is where gay fantasies come true, and the problem the city presents is whether, after all, we wanted these particular dreams to be fulfilled—or would we have preferred others? Did we know what price these dreams would exact? Did we anticipate the ways in which, vivid and continuous, they would unsuit us for the business of daily life? Or should our notion of daily life itself be transformed?
    Edmund White (b. 1940)
