Species
There are three living species of wombat, all of which reside only in Australia. They are protected under Australian law.
- Common Wombat (Vombatus ursinus)
- Northern Hairy-nosed Wombat or Yaminon (Lasiorhinus krefftii)
- Southern Hairy-nosed Wombat (Lasiorhinus latifrons)
