Woh Rehne Waali Mehlon Ki - Plot

Plot

The successful show has been running for five years. During the course of the first year of the show's run, the protagonist of the show is Rani Mittal (Reena Kapoor), a rich girl who gets married into a poor family and learns to adjust to lower middle class life. After the death of her first husband Raj Goyal, her family gets her married to her husband's rich look-alike Prince Thapar.

During the second year of the show's run, after the deaths of Rani and Prince, their daughter Pari Thapar becomes the show's protagonist. Pari (Reena Kapoor, again)looks exactly like her mother. The show focuses on Pari's life, her first crush in college, her marriage to her soul-mate Saumya Parashar (Aamir Ali), and the obstacles she has to face in her husband's house. Saumya dies after falling from a cliff, saving his cousin Sameer. Soon after the death of Saumya, Pari gives birth to his son. Dr. Manav handles Pari's delivery. Just when Pari delivers her baby boy, Manav's wife Pallavi also delivers a son. The babies get swapped in the hospital. Pari's son and Manav's wife Pallavi die. Because Pari is a widow, whose reason for living is her child, and also because his son needs a mother, Manav lets his son remain with Pari (he's the only one aware of the baby-swap that had taken place). The child is named Shubham. Saumya's cousin Sameer marries his pregnant girlfriend Alisha (Nisha Sareen), who later gives birth to baby boy Shivam. In time, Dr. Manav misses his son a lot. When Pari and other people misunderstand his reasons for seeing Shubham (his son), he attempts suicide and goes slightly loony. Manav's friend, Dr. Saurav (who had handled Pallavi's delivery), is the only other person, apart from Manav, who knows about the kid-swap. Saurav tells Pari the truth and she decides to bring father and son together. Pari marries Manav, nurses him back to his senses and teaches his wretched family a few lessons. She then gets caught up with, and adopts, a little orphan girl named Rani.

Pari's adopted daughter Rani is the focus of the last storyline. She is an orphan whose marriage has been fixed with a boy in an aristocratic family. Her grandfather asks Pari and Manav to take care of her till she is ready to be married. They agree, mostly because Pari is drawn to Rani (the little girl has the same name and birthday as Pari's mother). A freak accident at school causes Rani to lose her eyesight but Manav and Pari adopt her and bring her home. Their family is complete. Manav's brother DP and his wife Jyoti also have a baby girl. Then one day Pari falls and that leads to a medical condition that paves the way for her death. Before dying, she makes sure Rani receives her eyes, and so Pari continues in the serial through Rani's eyes. The serial then has its third leap of 15 years. Manav and Pari are both dead. Shubham is a doctor. DP and Jyoti run the house. Rani (Neha Janpandit/ Reena Kapoor) grows up into a beautiful young woman and capable doctor. As arranged in her childhood, she marries her fiance Rishabh (Karan Grover). However, she is in for a shock: Rishabh and his brothers have lost all their wealth. They live in a rundown house and constantly quarrel with each other. What is worse, Rishabh has no proper education and ignores his wife. With great courage and patience, Dr. Rani sets about reforming her new family and restoring order to their home. Encouraged by her, Rishabh takes up a job. Slowly, love blossoms between the couple. Eventually they regain their inheritance and move into a grand house. However, their happiness is short-lived as Rishabh and his brothers die in a tragic accident. Rani is left to fend for herself, her three widowed sisters-in-law, a blind uncle-in-law and two small children of Rishabh's brothers. She meets this new challenge with her characteristic strength and faith in God. She and her family move to Mumbai. After facing many hard times, Rani and her sisters-in-law get re-married. Rani's second husband (Sameer Sharma) is a wealthy businessman. Coincidentally, he is also named Rishabh. Rani's new life with Rishabh and his large joint family is not easy. She faces many hurdles and goes through testing times. All gets well in the end, however, and Rani lives happily ever after with her husband.

Famous quotes containing the word plot:

Persons attempting to find a motive in this narrative will be prosecuted; persons attempting to find a moral in it will be banished; persons attempting to find a plot in it will be shot.
Mark Twain [Samuel Langhorne Clemens] (1835–1910)

James’s great gift, of course, was his ability to tell a plot in shimmering detail with such delicacy of treatment and such fine aloofness—that is, reluctance to engage in any direct grappling with what, in the play or story, had actually “taken place”Mthat his listeners often did not, in the end, know what had, to put it in another way, “gone on.”
    James Thurber (1894–1961)

Morality for the novelist is expressed not so much in the choice of subject matter as in the plot of the narrative, which is perhaps why in our morally bewildered time novelists have often been timid about plot.
    Jane Rule (b. 1931)
