Winthrop has been ranked in numerous college rankings. In 2007, it was named one of the top ten regional public universities in the south. It has routinely been ranked by US News, Consumer Reports, Barron's Best Buys and the Princeton Review as one of the best values in higher education. In 2006, it was ranked the 8th best Public University in the Southeast by US News and World Report.
