In 2009, the Winters Mill Art's department won the prestigious Kennedy Center Award for being 1 out of 5 schools in the United States with the best art department. In April 2009 the Winters Mill Vocal Ensemble and four dancers from the dance program performed at the Kennedy Center. The performance is available for viewing on the Kennedy Center's website.
