Winter Songs (Art Bears Album)

Winter Songs (Art Bears Album)

Winter Songs is the second album by English avant-rock group Art Bears. It was recorded at Sunrise Studio in Kirchberg, Switzerland between 22 November and 5 December 1978, and was released in 1979. It was Art Bears' first album to be recorded on their own, the bulk of their first album, Hopes and Fears (1978) having been recorded as Henry Cow. Ground and Sky wrote in a review of the album: "Winter Songs often seems like the third wheel in Art Bears' trilogy of full-length releases; it is neither as overtly political nor as musically diverse as either of the albums that bookend it."

Famous quotes containing the words winter, songs and/or bears:

    All men hesitate
Separately, always, seeing another year gone
Frockcoated gentleman, farmer at his gate,
Villein with mattock, soldiers on their shields,
All silent, watching the winter coming on.
    Philip Larkin (1922–1986)

The hills are alive with the sound of music, with songs they have sung for a thousand years.
    Oscar Hammerstein II (1895–1960)

Why do otherwise sane, competent, strong men, men who can wrestle bears or raid corporations, shrink away in horror at the thought of washing a dish or changing a diaper?
    Frank Pittman (20th century)
