Wings (band)

Wings (also known as Paul McCartney & Wings) were a British rock group formed in 1971 by Paul McCartney with his wife Linda McCartney, session drummer Denny Seiwell and former Moody Blues guitarist Denny Laine. Wings were noted for frequent personnel changes as well as commercial success, going through three lead guitarists and four drummers. However, the core trio of the McCartneys and Laine remained intact throughout the group's tenure.

Famous quotes containing the word wings:

In the wings the tenor hungers
For the heroine’s convulsive kiss, and Faust
Moves forward, no longer young, reappearing
And reappearing for the last time. The opera
Faust would no longer need its phantom.
On the bare, sunlit stage the hungers could begin.
    John Ashbery (b. 1927)
