A Windows domain is a collection of security principals that share a central directory database. The central database is usually maintained by a proprietary Microsoft product or technology, known as Active Directory starting with Windows 2000, Active Directory Domain Services in Windows Server 2008 and Server 2008 R2, also referred to as NT Directory Services on Windows NT operating systems, or NTDS. Each person who uses computers within a domain receives his own unique account, or user name. This account can then be assigned access to resources within the domain.

“Try speaking. Say Hello!
Hello. Hello.
What do you hear?
I hear an empty room
You know it sounds that way. And yes, I hear
I think I hear a clock and windows rattling....”

“Every sign is subject to the criteria of ideological evaluation.... The domain of ideology coincides with the domain of signs. They equate with one another. Wherever a sign is present, ideology is present, too. Everything ideological possesses semiotic value.”
