Famous quotes containing the words generation, capacity and/or expansion:

There will be no greater burden on our generation than to organize the forces of liberty in our time in order to make our quest of a new freedom for America.
    Woodrow Wilson (1856–1924)

Becoming more flexible, open-minded, having a capacity to deal with change is a good thing. But it is far from the whole story. Grandparents, in the absence of the social institutions that once demanded civilized behavior, have their work cut out for them. Our grandchildren are hungry for our love and approval, but also for standards being set.
    Eda Le Shan (20th century)

We are caught up Mr. Perry on a great wave whether we will or no, a great wave of expansion and progress. All these mechanical inventions—telephones, electricity, steel bridges, horseless vehicles—they are all leading somewhere. It’s up to us to be on the inside in the forefront of progress.
    John Dos Passos (1896–1970)
