William "Tank" Black - Professional Management Incorporated

Professional Management Incorporated

In 1990, Black founded Professional Management Incorporated with Bill Bradshaw, a Columbia businessman and one of Black’s former wide receivers at South Carolina, and a marquee client, Sterling Sharpe, whom Black had known from his days coaching at South Carolina. Black and Bradshaw had an amicable split in 1995 when Black purchased Bradshaw's ownership in PMI.

With his college recruiting skills, his own experience as a player, his shared cultural background, and personal charisma, Black eventually represented over 50 black NFL players, as well as National Basketball Association star Vince Carter. He also owned a travel agency, an outgrowth of his sports agency.

Famous quotes containing the words professional, management and/or incorporated:

... all professional ideologies are high-minded. Hunters, for instance, would not dream of calling themselves the butchers of the woods.
    Robert Musil (1880–1942)

This we take it is the grand characteristic of our age. By our skill in Mechanism, it has come to pass, that in the management of external things we excel all other ages; while in whatever respects the pure moral nature, in true dignity of soul and character, we are perhaps inferior to most civilised ages.
    Thomas Carlyle (1795–1881)

At most, the greatest persons are but great wens, and excrescences; men of wit and delightfull conversation, but as moales for ornament, except they be so incorporated into the body of the world that they contribute something to the sustentation of the whole.
    John Donne (c. 1572–1631)
