Famous quotes containing the words jennings, bryan, boyhood and/or home:

    Chastity faces them, a destination
For which their whole lives were a preparation.
    —Elizabeth Jennings (b. 1926)

Do you know I believe that [William Jennings] Bryan will force his nomination on the Democrats again. I believe he will either do this by advocating Prohibition, or else he will run on a Prohibition platform independent of the Democrats. But you will see that the year before the election he will organize a mammoth lecture tour and will make Prohibition the leading note of every address.
    William Howard Taft (1857–1930)

If ... boyhood and youth are but vanity, must it not be our ambition to become men?
    Vincent Van Gogh (1853–1890)

At the violet hour, the evening hour that strives
Homeward, and brings the sailor home from sea,
The typist home at teatime, clears her breakfast, lights
Her stove, and lays out food in tins.
