William Horace Temple - Personal Life

Personal Life

Temple was predeceased by his son, William Price Temple; who was hospitalized for over four months, in and out of a coma, and finally succumbed to an undiagnoised brain-disease on August 21, 1956. His wife, Mary Temple, served for a period as an alderman on the Toronto City Council for Ward 7 from 1959 to 1969, and had previously served as a school trustee for the ward. She also served as Chair of the Toronto School Board in the 1950s.

Temple died on April 9, 1988, in the Queensway General Hospital, after a short illiness at the age of 89.

Famous quotes containing the words personal and/or life:

I know no personal cause to spurn at him,
But for the general: he would be crowned.
How that might change his nature, there’s the question.
    William Shakespeare (1564–1616)

Measure your health by your sympathy with morning and spring. If there is no response in you to the awakening of nature—if the prospect of an early morning walk does not banish sleep, if the warble of the first bluebird does not thrill you—know that the morning and spring of your life are past. Thus may you feel your pulse.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)
