Cook Group
Founded to make medical devices, including guidewires for catheter angiography, Bill Cook collaborated with many of the founders of Interventional Radiology, including Dr. Charles Dotter, to grow Cook, Inc. into the world's largest family-owned medical device manufacturer. Notable products included the Spectrum antibiotic-impregnated catheter (Rifamphin/Minocycline); the Gianturco-Roubin coronary stent, the first coronary stent approved for use in the USA; the first paclitaxel-coated drug-eluting stent, the Supra-G, tested in Asia; and the V-Flex, tested in Europe.

Famous quotes containing the words cook and/or group:
“Mildred Pierce: You look down on me because I work for a living, dont you? You always have. All right, I work. I cook food and sell it and make a profit on it, which, I might point out, youre not too proud to share with me.
Monte Beragon: Yes, I take money from you, Mildred. But not enough to make me like kitchens or cooks. They smell of grease.
Mildred Pierce: I dont notice you shrinking away from a fifty- dollar bill because it smells of grease.”
—Ranald MacDougall (19151973)
“Unless a group of workers know their work is under surveillance, that they are being rated as fairly as human beings, with the fallibility that goes with human judgment, can rate them, and that at least an attempt is made to measure their worth to an organization in relative terms, they are likely to sink back on length of service as the sole reason for retention and promotion.”
—Mary Barnett Gilson (1877?)
