William B. Saxbe - Personal Life

Personal Life

In 1940, he married the former Ardath Louise "Dolly" Kleinhans. They had three children: William Bart Jr., Juliet Louise, and Charles Rockwell. Charles served four terms in the Ohio House of Representatives, and was later an attorney in private practice.

Saxbe was known for his quips. Asked about Sen. Robert Dole, he commented that Dole was so unpopular with his fellow senators that "he couldn't sell beer on a troop ship."

Famous quotes containing the words personal life, personal and/or life:

A man lives not only his personal life, as an individual, but also, consciously or unconsciously, the life of his epoch and his contemporaries.
    Thomas Mann (1875–1955)

I know no personal cause to spurn at him,
But for the general: he would be crowned.
How that might change his nature, there’s the question.
    William Shakespeare (1564–1616)

The price we pay for the complexity of life is too high. When you think of all the effort you have to put in—telephonic, technological and relational—to alter even the slightest bit of behaviour in this strange world we call social life, you are left pining for the straightforwardness of primitive peoples and their physical work.
    Jean Baudrillard (b. 1929)
