Wild Spirit Wolf Sanctuary

Wild Spirit Wolf Sanctuary (WSWS) is an animal sanctuary in Candy Kitchen, New Mexico, USA dedicated to rescuing and providing sanctuary for captive-bred wolves and wolfdogs. It is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

Across the road from the sanctuary is a campground also run by the WSWS. Visitors who stay at the campground on the weekend can help feed the animals, joining volunteers as they give the wolves breakfast.

Famous quotes containing the words wild, spirit, wolf and/or sanctuary:

Ah! I have penetrated to those meadows on the morning of many a first spring day, jumping from hummock to hummock, from willow root to willow root, when the wild river valley and the woods were bathed in so pure and bright a light as would have waked the dead, if they had been slumbering in their graves, as some suppose. There needs no stronger proof of immortality. All things must live in such a light. O Death, where was thy sting? O Grave, where was thy victory, then?
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

The Spirit of Place [does not] exert its full influence upon a newcomer until the old inhabitant is dead or absorbed. So America.... The moment the last nuclei of Red [Indian] life break up in America, then the white men will have to reckon with the full force of the demon of the continent.
    —D.H. (David Herbert)

The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and a little child shall lead them.
    Bible: Hebrew, Isaiah 11:6.

Proverbs, like the sacred books of each nation, are the sanctuary of the intuitions. That which the droning world, chained to appearances, will not allow the realist to say in his own words, it will suffer him to say in proverbs without contradiction.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)
