Record reviewer Robert Christgau has been highly positive of the album, citing it as one of his top ten records of all time and awarding it a rare A+ on his Consumer Guide.
Wild Honey has also been touted by renowned musicians and recording personnel. Jim Morrison of The Doors was reportedly a great fan of the record, as is David Bowie producer, Tony Visconti who listed the album as one of his 13 favourites of all time, boldly stating: "I still refer to this record as a benchmark in the same way that I do Revolver."
