Famous quotes containing the words wild, arms, complete and/or tracks:
“All the intelligence and talent in the world cant make a singer. The voice is a wild thing. It cant be bred in captivity. It is a sport, like the silver fox. It happens.”
—Willa Cather (18731947)
“Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired, signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed. The world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its labourers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children.”
—Dwight D. Eisenhower (18901969)
“For us to go to Italy and to penetrate into Italy is like a most fascinating act of self-discoveryback, back down the old ways of time. Strange and wonderful chords awake in us, and vibrate again after many hundreds of years of complete forgetfulness.”
—D.H. (David Herbert)
“The tracks of moose, more or less recent, to speak literally, covered every square rod on the sides of the mountain; and these animals are probably more numerous there now than ever before, being driven into this wilderness, from all sides, by the settlements.”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
